Day 1 – The Boat      Back Next

Today we finished getting ready, packed the car and left home for the boat, we were aboard the boat by 2000.  Once on the boat we got a little lost trying to find where we were supposed to be, there are so many cabins and rooms they all look the same and all go round in circles, I don’t remember being that lost the last time we travelled on the Sprit of Tas.  We found the business class seating, it looked ok, and pretty comfy.

We met a guy on the boat and had a bit of a chat, he was starting a new job on some trout farm, and was going to do some sight seeing in between.  He seemed like an interesting bloke, someone who moves around a lot seeing lots of places on the way.

We went off for dinner which John was very impressed with, we had salad and pasta which were only $10.00 each and you could pile as much as you wanted!.  Pretty good value really, especially the veggie lasagne, we sat with an old couple who were off to a family reunion, they seemed nice and were friendly.

We wondered around the boat for a while, there were no good movies to watch and not much else to do so we went on deck to watch the boat go through the heads.  John had a present for me to open but to John’s disappointment his chocolate balls had melted in the 33 deg heat that we had in Melbourne, so we ate runny chockies until we couldn’t stand the cold breeze any more and decided to go to bed.

The seats looked comfy but after five hours and many position changes you start wishing you had a bed.  John thought they were pretty good and slept well, I would know ‘cos I watched him sleep most of the night, reading a book or sitting wondering what time it was.
