Had a lazy morning this morning, taking our
time to pack everything up. I decided to make damper, which was
bloody good, nothing could have been better. We drove back out of the valley and back through Corinna,
where we had to catch the barge across the Pieman River. The
barge was having some repairs done by some guys who looked like
they lived in the bush and only came out once a year in a full
moon or something. It cost $20 to get across, which we thought
was a rip off because we reckoned that if they didn’t want to
spend the money making a proper bridge, then they shouldn’t
charge the user to cross with the elcheapo bridge substitute,
just like everywhere else.
From there we drove down to Zeehan to do the
Laundry. We had a couple of loads to wash. Jo stayed at the
caravan park to look after it while I walked down to the shops
for some food supplies. In a couple of hours the washing was
done, and dry, so off we went again, with a quick stop for some
ice cream and petrol.
We headed back north again, towards Corinna,
but turned off towards Granville Harbour, where we drove along
the cost on some sandy tracks looking for a camp spot. We found
one near Duck creek that seemed great at first, until about the
time we had the tent set up and we realised there were swarms of
tiny little biting insects following us around everywhere. You
couldn’t help swallowing and breathing them in constantly, they
were getting in our food, tent, and clothing and really bugging
us a lot. So when dinner was ready we went for a walk down the
river to the beach where there were less bugs.

We mucked around there a bit, and came back
to the tent to hide away for the night.
